We are a week into the offseason. There isn't a whole lot going on. Players have some time to unwind and see what is happening on social media.

That includes Arik Armstead.


The San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman criticized a 49ers reporter from the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Grant Cohn, for his take on Armstead's contract situation. Cohn stated that the team would be better served to pursue Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney in free agency.

Armstead wasn't too fond of that take.


Armstead had a breakout season in 2019, racking up a career-high and team-leading 10 sacks and then adding two more in the playoffs during a contract year. He would like to return to the 49ers, so he isn't taking too kindly to reporters saying he should be replaced.

General manager John Lynch last week expressed interest in bringing Armstead back to the 49ers in 2020, and potentially beyond.

"Arik's an excellent player. He had an excellent year," Lynch said when asked if the 49ers might be interested in using the franchise tag on Armstead. "I think everything is on the table. We want to find a way to keep him and make him a part of the Niners for a long time."


Armstead continued to target Cohn over the weekend.


He then moved on to FanSided reporter Ryan Sakamoto, who was formerly a beat writer for the Niners. Sakamoto and Cohn host 49ers away-game broadcasts together for Hot Mic.


Armstead said he isn't mad, though. He just has more time on his hands, right now, to respond to these types of takes.


Yes, we are one week into the offseason.
