San Francisco 49ers passing-game coordinator Mike LaFleur entered this season in the final year of his contract. He's not going anywhere. The 49ers signed the valuable assistant coach to a contract extension during the postseason, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.


As Schefter points out, the Green Bay Packers, coached by Mike's brother, Matt LaFleur, were among the teams interested in the assistant this past offseason. The 49ers blocked that potential move.


There have been rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles might be interested in LaFleur to be their offensive coordinator, possibly in title only. It is unknown if that would have included play-calling duties.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has already stated that he is likely to block any moves that don't include play-calling duties in an effort to keep his talented staff together. With LaFleur locked up, a move to Philadelphia now seems very unlikely.

It looks like LaFleur will remain with the 49ers.
