The San Francisco 49ers suffered through four consecutive seasons of 10-or-more losses before turning things around this season. Now, the team finds itself returning to the Super Bowl during head coach Kyle Shanahan's and general manager John Lynch's third season together.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark remembers the 49ers' tough years well. He was with the Seattle Seahawks for four seasons before being traded to the Chiefs this past offseason. Still, Clark respects what the 49ers have quickly accomplished.


Clark spoke with reporters on Tuesday morning from the team's hotel in Aventura, Florida, and was asked about his Super Bowl LIV opponent.

"They got one of the highest-powered offenses in the NFL right now," Clark said. "When you've got a tight end like George Kittle, and you've got receivers who are moving around like those guys are, and you've got a great quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo, things are going to happen that are special for you.

"These guys, it's a long time coming. You watched over the years, wondering where the 49ers have been after the whole [Colin Kaepernick] thing. They've been off the map kind of. It's pretty dope to see them climbing back on the map after years of turmoil and years of going through all these different changes."
