But the diversity on the 49ers staff is not just limited to Sowers, explains the team's CEO.
"I think a lot of that goes to Kyle (Shanahan), where he wants to make sure that there are diverse coaches on our staff," York told Wolfe. "And you look at our coordinators; we have three minority coordinators, you've got Katie who's out there, and it sends a message to everybody that you can maybe look different than what the normal makeup of a coach is.
"And Katie, especially, she works so hard, and she's been such a great part of our team. It's inspirational to see that a young lady can come in and step up and be the first woman to stand on the field during the Super Bowl."
The 49ers are scheduled to kick off their media session tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET (6:00 p.m. PT). They will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, February 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
