Two San Francisco 49ers players may seek out advice from players with a great deal of experience going against the Kansas City Chiefs. As you know, the 49ers will face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, February 2, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo sat behind Tom Brady in New England for nearly four seasons before being traded to San Francisco. Garoppolo has been to the Super Bowl before but never as a starter. He was asked on Thursday if he would reach out to the Patriots quarterback to seek advice on how to handle the biggest game of his life.


"I might," Garoppolo responded. "It's not a bad idea. It's just the more information you can get about it — having been through it, it's a little different as a starter than a backup — so any information I can get would be great."

What did Garoppolo learn from the sidelines while watching Brady in the Super Bowl?

"I think just how calm he was," Garoppolo said. "Everyone says you've got to treat it like another game, just the way he actually he did it. I was up close and personal, picking up everything I could, seeing how he went about his business and everything. And obviously it worked out the two times that I was there with him. Try to transfer that over to my game."

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has been encouraging his players to view the Super Bowl like the other 18 games the team has played this season. Garoppolo, who is typically calm and collected in games, says that's how he is approaching the Super Bowl.

"I'm trying to do the same thing, be ready to go, and we'll see what happens," Garoppolo added.


Nick Bosa says he will "definitely" seek advice from a player with a lot of experience going against Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — his older brother, Joey, of the Los Angeles Chargers.

"We're going to be talking," the younger Bosa said on Thursday. "He has pretty good input on these guys, so he's going to give me everything that he can give me, and it's up to me to go use it."

Joey Bosa was at Levi's Stadium to watch his younger brother during the 49ers' first playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Nick Bosa was asked how much of a resource his brother has been so far and how much he will be going forward in his NFL career.

"The season gets a little busy, but I feel like this offseason, we're definitely going to have a lot of conversations while we train about just things that I've learned this year from playing, and things that he's learned, obviously," Bosa answered. "But yeah, we play pretty similar positions, pretty similar schemes, so there's going to be a lot of back-and-forth with that, for sure."
