Goodwin was active this past weekend against the Baltimore Ravens after being inactive during Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers. He never stepped on the field for an offensive snap in Baltimore, however.
Goodwin is listed on the team's practice report with knee and foot injuries.
"He's had some wear and tear, some chronic stuff," head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Goodwin on Friday, "and then it just flamed up enough that we had to list it today. So when we do that, it's questionable."
Pettis, meanwhile, was inactive against the Ravens after suffering a knee sprain during a practice in the week leading to the game. Shanahan didn't sound too optimistic that Pettis might be available on Sunday.
"We mainly just did walk-through today, so he was able to go through walk-through," Shanahan said of Pettis, "so that was good. It gives him a chance to hopefully be able to go next week."
Shanahan was asked if he would go with just four receivers if Pettis and Goodwin cannot play.
"Yeah, we'd have to. Yep," the coach responded.
Goodwin has just 12 receptions for 186 yards with a touchdown through nine games this season. Pettis hasn't fared any better. He has hauled in 11 passes for 109 yards with two touchdowns through 11 games.
The 49ers' remaining receivers on the roster are Emmanuel Sanders, Deebo Samuel, Kendrick Bourne, and Richie James.
