There was some concern about DL Arik Armstead after the defender left the field with members of the training staff as Thursday's practice kicked off. He is the team's sack leader having already reached opposing quarterbacks 10 times this season.
Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh told reporters after practice that there is no reason for concern, Armstead was given a veteran day off, and he should be good for Sunday's game. Saleh also discussed Armstead's impact on defense.
WR Dante Pettis (knee) returned to practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session and being inactive this past weekend against the Baltimore Ravens.
As was the case on Wednesday, S Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) and DT Jullian Taylor did not practice. Taylor is expected to miss at least a couple of games with what head coach Kyle Shanahan has described as "a ligament issue in his elbow."
LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, a member of the practice squad, left practice during special-teams drills.
Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Saints, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
