EDGE Dee Ford and running back Matt Breida were ruled out prior to the game, per reports, with quad/hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively. So was offensive tackle Joe Staley (finger). And the Niners' Week 13 inactives ended up being as follows:
- DE Dee Ford
- WR Dante Pettis
- QB C.J. Beathard
- TE Levine Toilolo
- RB Matt Breida
- K Chase McLaughlin
- T Joe Staley
Wide receiver Dante Pettis also suffered a knee injury during the week's practice.
San Francisco was without Ford, Breida and Staley for its Week 12 win over the Green Bay Packers. To replace Staley, the Niners started rookie tackle Justin Skule, although he was replaced in the game by the veteran, Daniel Brunskill. It will be interesting to watch who starts on the left side of the 49ers offensive line against Baltimore.
With Breida out, the heavy workload on the ground figures to go between running backs Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert. One of the key ways San Francisco can keep Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson off the field will be to control the clock, meaning a heavy dose of rushing could be a key part of head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense.
Especially amid the rainy conditions at M&T Bank Stadium.
The 49ers and Ravens kick off at 1 p.m. ET from Baltimore.
