San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida, who was limited during each practice this past week and listed as "questionable" for Sunday, was initially expected to play against the Baltimore Ravens, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
However, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the 49ers running back will instead sit out the game and get another week of rest.
Breida could be missed. A heavy dose of running the football could be on display by both teams with the forecast for Baltimore, as of Saturday night, showing a 100-percent chance of rain with wind gusts up to 10-15 mph. The team will likely depend on Tevin Coleman, Raheem Mostert, and Jeff Wilson Jr. against the Ravens, as has been the case over the past two weeks.
Breida aggravated his ankle during Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks and has been inactive for the 49ers' last two games. He remains the team's leading rusher with 542 yards on 109 carries with one touchdown through nine games and five starts. Breida has also caught 16 passes for 110 yards with a receiving touchdown this season.
The 49ers signed Breida as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Southern in 2017.
