The move comes after the loss of defensive end Ronald Blair, who suffered a season-ending torn ACL during Monday night's overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Shortly after the reported move, the 49ers officially announced that Moore has been signed to a one-year deal and the team has placed Blair on injured reserve.
Moore spent this past offseason with the 49ers. A former third-round pick by the New York Giants in 2013, he has also played for the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, and Oakland Raiders. The Raiders released him on December 24, 2018.
Moore caught on with the San Diego Fleet of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football league for the startup's abbreviated inaugural season. The 49ers initially signed Moore on April 5 and waived him on August 31 as part of the team's 53-player roster cut-down.
Moore has recorded 83 tackles, 10 sacks, four passes defensed, and two forced fumbled through six NFL seasons.
Blair finishes the season with 21 tackles and three sacks through nine games this season, his fourth with San Francisco since the team made him a fifth-round draft pick out of Appalachian State in 2016.
H/t to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle for the find.
