The excited Joey was so proud of his younger brother. But he jokingly complained that, of course, Nick had to upstage him on a day when he too had an impressive outing, which included two sacks against the Bears.
Nick Bosa proved on Sunday that he is a special player. It's hard to believe that he's a rookie and not a seasoned veteran because he looks like he's been terrorizing opposing quarterbacks for years.
Bosa's teammate, defensive tackle D.J. Jones, joined 95.7 The Game on Tuesday and was asked when he realized the rookie was going to be special.
"When I first saw him in person, his frame, he's like a Greek god," Jones told Damon Bruce, Ray Ratto, and Matt Kolsky. "Just like a Greek god-like frame. I mean, he's mad athletic. He's strong. Really when I first laid eyes on him, it was like, 'Who is this?'"
Jones was asked if there is any player he feels is comparable to Bosa or is the rookie so unique that there isn't a proper comparison.
"He's just so special," Jones responded. "I haven't seen anybody like him. This past game, we were all on the sideline saying, 'I've never seen a performance like this.' Three sacks, interception, the return was better than the interception. Man, it's crazy.
"There's nobody I can compare him to. Of course, his brother, but he's a man of his own."
Bosa showed on Sunday that he is a complete player capable of taking over a game and even, at one point, ran stride for stride with the Panthers' star running back, Christian McCaffrey.
"He's an athlete," Jones said. "If you've seen his legs, he can run, he can jump. I feel like he can do it all, and I feel like he's just getting better week by week."
