San Francisco 49ers rookie defensive end Nick Bosa has earned his second league-sponsored award. He was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week following Week 5 and has won the same award again after his impressive Week 8 performance in the Niners' 51-13 win over the Carolina Panthers.
His older brother, Joey Bosa of the Los Angeles Chargers, has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Against the Panthers, Nick Bosa had four tackles, three for a loss, three sacks, a pass defensed, and even had an interception off Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen, which he returned 46 yards.
"He's been doing a great job," defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said of Bosa on Tuesday. "He's been healthy, but his mindset is what people don't talk enough about. In terms of the way he approaches practice, his deliberateness, the way he attacks his body with regards to rehab and doing all those things and taking care of it. He's been good. He's just got to keep on going."
Bosa played college football at Ohio State, and the 49ers made him the No. 2 overall pick in April. He has racked up 20 tackles, seven sacks, a pass defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble this season.
