Coleman finished the game with 105 rushing yards on 11 carries (9.5 yards per attempt) with three rushing touchdowns. He also added two receptions for 13 yards and a touchdown reception.
The other award nominees are running backs David Montgomery of the Chicago Bears and James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
San Francisco signed Coleman in March, and Sunday was his first 100-yard performance with his new team. The veteran running back has 332 rushing yards on 71 carries with five rushing touchdowns through five games and two starts this season.
