It was announced at the time of Witherspoon's injury that the cornerback would miss "at least a month."
Monday's workout will include both veterans and younger players. They include Dontae Johnson, David Amerson, Coty Sensabaugh, Saivion Smith, and Teez Tabor, according to a report from The Athletic.
Jason Verrett replaced Witherspoon against the Steelers but lasted just three snaps on defense and was pulled in favor of Emmanuel Moseley after giving up two big plays.
"The other day certainly wasn't a great debut for him," general manager John Lynch said of Verrett during a KNBR interview on Friday. "I think he was very frustrated, but it's the first time he's played football in a long time. He came out of the game a little nicked up, so we'll see where he is health-wise."
Lynch went on to say that Moseley, an undrafted free agent in 2018, has impressed since he arrived. D.J. Reed could also be an option to help at cornerback.
"So we're going to rely on those guys," Lynch continued. "I know everyone's interested about what's out there, and other places. We certainly look at all those things. I think we'll be alright."
Johnson started his second stint with the 49ers on May 28 but was released during roster cuts on August 30. He spent some time with the Los Angeles Chargers before being released on Saturday.
Amerson has six years of NFL experience and spent time with the Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders, and last year with the Arizona Cardinals.
Sensabaugh has seven years of NFL experience and spent time with the Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, and most recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Smith is a rookie while Tabor spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions.
