On September 18, 2019, Bochy became the eleventh manager to win 2,000 games. The others are in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Kyle Shanahan joined KNBR on Tuesday, and Larry Krueger asked the San Francisco 49ers head coach about Bochy and his Bay Area legacy.
"I haven't met him personally," Shanahan shared. "I've gotten a chance to go to one Giants game. It was great. I'd love to go to another, but I hope to someday have half the career that he's had.
"Just what he's done here, how long he's been here. I haven't been here for a lot of that, but I have so many friends who have lived in San Francisco their whole life and are such die-hard Giants fans.
"To come back here and still see him doing it strong, I wish he wasn't ending it right now, but he deserves to end it whenever he wants because he's been the man, and I hope someday I can be half of that."
