Yes, even ESPN's NFL insider, Adam Schefter, plays fantasy football, and he has two San Francisco 49ers running backs on his roster. They are Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert. The two combined for 204 rushing yards against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Breida averaged 10.1 yards per carry (not a typo) while Mostert averaged an also impressive 6.4 yards per carry.

The 49ers also promoted running back Jeff Wilson from the practice squad to the active roster last weekend. He had two touchdowns on Sunday. What is one thing San Francisco's three healthy running backs, filling in for the injured Tevin Coleman, have in common? They each went undrafted.


Schefter joined KNBR on Thursday and shared why he decided to pick up the 49ers' two running backs for his fantasy team.

"I will always, in terms of fantasy, always invest in a Bobby Turner, who is the Niners' running backs coach, and Kyle Shanahan offense because they will always run the football," Schefter said on the "Murph and Mac" show.

Schefter hesitated to call the 49ers running backs, whether it be Tevin Coleman, Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, or even Jerick McKinnon (if he could get on the field), interchangeable because he didn't want to insult them. But he feels that they are interchangeable within Shanahan's offense.

"You could put any one of them in and have an effective running game, and they all have certain strengths and weaknesses that you play to," Schefter continued. "But Matt Breida might just be their best back, period, anyway. Period."
