On his touchdown run, Mostert said he saw the defense flowing to the left and saw nothing but green grass.
"I knew I had to beat one person and that was the DB, and he was already blocked," Mostert said in a locker room interview after the game. "I was like, 'Alright, on to the next man,' and it was the safety. I was like, 'I definitely got that.'"
The former Purdue Boilermaker said he had a little hesitation when he entered the game Monday night, but that quickly went away after he got into the flow of the game.
The 49ers placed Mostert on injured reserve after he suffered a gruesome broken arm during a Week 9 Monday night game against the Oakland Raiders. Mostert had seven carries for 86 yards and a 52-yard touchdown run in that game.
Mostert said he has a plate in his forearm with an estimated 14 to 16 screws.
"It is honestly an exciting moment, especially coming back from my injury," Mostert said. "Just having to have a little more confidence in myself and believing in myself that I can do this."
In an interview with Matt Maiocco on the 49ers Insider Podcast, Mostert said he takes things one week at a time by proving his worth and helping his teammates.
"I just go out there and try to prove myself and show everyone I can play running back and just give it the best of my ability," Mostert said. That's all I always try to do."
The 49ers have the luxury of having a crowded backfield with Jerick McKinnon, Tevin Coleman, Matt Brieda, Jeff Wilson, and Mostert.
"Because I don't know where I'm going to fall as far as the running back depth, but I just want to just go out there and give it my all."
In nine games of the 2018 season, Mostert had a total of 286 rushing yards from scrimmage and one touchdown while averaging 7.7 yards per carry and 4.2 yards per reception.
Since signing as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, Mostert has been with the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and the Baltimore Ravens.
In 2016, Mostert signed with the New York Jets and then the Chicago Bears before landing on the 49ers practice squad on November 28, 2016.

Sports has been my first love since I was 12 years old. At one point I wanted to play football professionally. I started to take photography as a hobby in my teenage years but this was when I followed sports. I started to listen to sports radio, I found my true calling and it was to be a sports talk show host. Though I follow football and basketball, I started to have a new love of cultures around the world. After graduating from San Antonio College in 2018, I worked for the Castroville News Bulletin before going to A&M San Antonio to get my communications degree. Since I have written for the Ranger of San Antonio College, the News Bulletin and the Mesquite of Texas A&M San Antonio, I met many people and went to a lot of events. My major milestone was being in the press box of the San Antonio Commanders game for the Mesquite and being apart of a press conference with the Medina County Sheriff and other local news outlets. When I am not doing anything, I like to watch old cartoons on the DC Universe, play video games such as Mega Man and the Mass Effect series. I have also created Youtube channel called "Anger Management" with my friend Aaron Donnell.
