San Francisco is placing Coleman on injured reserve on Monday after the tackle suffered a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle during Saturday night's preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys. He was expected the be the swing tackle behind Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey.
The Cowboys made Young a sixth-round selection out of Notre Dame in 2010. Young has 88 game appearances and 21 starts through his nine NFL seasons. He appeared in 22 games with seven starts for the Miami Dolphins over the last two seasons.
Coleman also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills during his professional career.
