The San Francisco 49ers received permission from the NFL to make the following signage inside Levi's Stadium honoring the late Dwight Clark permanent. The logo, introduced last year following the Bay Area icon's passing, was added to players' helmets and appeared on the padded wall separating the north end zone from the seats. The latter is what is becoming permanent, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.

Today is August 7, 2019. 8/7. Clark wore No. 87 during his nine seasons with the 49ers. The team has declared today "Dwight Clark Day" and is holding festivities during today's open practice to honor the Niner legend.

Today is also the official release date of the book "Letters to 87: Fans Remember the Legacy of Dwight Clark" by author and 49ers insider Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
