The depth chart doesn't provide any insight in the competition for the backup quarterback job behind starter Jimmy Garoppolo, who will not play on Saturday. Both C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens are listed second on the depth chart.
The plan is to have Garoppolo play during the 49ers' second and third preseason games, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Another interesting note is that running back Matt Breida is listed ahead of Tevin Coleman. But as usual, you shouldn't read too much into the team's unofficial depth charts. They are prepared by the team's Communications staff, not the coaches.
