49ers training camp: Bosa shines in debut practice
Takeaways: Bosa impresses. Garoppolo looked "encouragingly nimble" and was able to get his passes away before Bosa or Dee Ford got to him. Linebacker Kwon Alexander (ACL) and cornerback Jason Verrett (Achilles) made their practice debuts but were held out of 11-on-11 drills. The team is easing them back. Garoppolo, defensive line shine for 49ers on opening day of training camp
Takeaways: Biderman listed DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas as standouts from practice. Each had a couple of tackles for a loss. Some of Buckner's success came against the right side of the O-line, where Mike Person and Joshua Garnett are rotating at guard. Garoppolo looked sharp. He "threaded the needle between traffic" on a play to wide receiver Dante Pettis. Rookie receiver Deebo Samuel hauled in a pass from quarterback Nick Mullens and took it for what would have been a touchdown. Defensive back Tyree Robinson stripped rookie tight end Tyree Mayfield and recovered the fumble.
