Expectations continue to grow with each update on Jimmy Garoppolo's health. The quarterback suffered a torn ACL during a Week 3 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs last season, and he expects to be the team's Week 1 starter this year. Garoppolo participated during the entire offseason program and took part in everything except 11-on-11 team drills (minus one snap). The 49ers coaching staff remains hopeful that he will be full-go when training camp kicks off in late-July.
NFL Network analyst Adam Rank recently created some buzz among the Niner Faithful when he predicted a 3-13 record for the 49ers, which is one win fewer than last season's mark and three victories fewer than in 2017. A three-win finish would be seen as a significant setback during a critical season for a team which believes it is close to turning a corner.
The 49ers bolstered their struggling pass rush with the additions of veteran Dee Ford and rookie Nick Bosa. Linebacker Kwon Alexander, who is also coming off of an ACL injury, will replace departed linebacker Reuben Foster. The team even added to its already strong running back group by signing Tevin Coleman.
Ignored was the safety position but there is now a lot of potential among the wide receivers. The group, however, lacks experience. The 49ers added two rookies, Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd, to the wide receiver room.
Was it enough to give the 49ers a boost when it comes to their win total? That's the question we presented to fans via a Twitter poll. Most feel the team will finish with eight or nine victories. That option earned 54 percent of the votes while 39 percent of fans believe the 49ers will win 10 or more games during the upcoming season.
That also means that 93 percent of fans are confident that the 49ers will finish at .500 or better.
Below are the final results of the poll.
