One of those sixth-round picks (No. 212 overall) was used to pair with linebacker Dekoda Watson, who was shipped off to the Denver Broncos in exchange for their Round 5 selection, No. 148 overall.
News of the deal was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter:
This clears out some room for additional depth both at linebacker and special teams, where Watson filled in for portions of last year. He did spend a good chunk of 2018 on injured reserve, however.
General manager John Lynch stayed put over the first two days of the NFL Draft, yet day three has already revealed two San Francisco trades.
After selecting Utah punter Mitch Wishnowsky with the No. 110 overall pick, the 49ers now have the following selections remaining:
- Round 5, No. 148 Overall
- Round 6, No. 176 Overall
- Round 6, No. 183 Overall (from Bengals)
- Round 6, No. 198 Overall (from Bengals)
