ESPN analyst Todd McShay put on his general manager hat on Tuesday and offered up a three-round mock draft showing what he would do if he were in charge of all 32 NFL teams.

On Wednesday, it was ESPN analyst Mel Kiper's turn to make sure each team received an "A" grade for their selections in the first three rounds.


"I'm not projecting picks based on what I'm hearing around the league," wrote Kiper. "No, this is me making three full rounds of picks based on what's best for each team at that slot, so that each team gets an 'A' grade."

In case you forgot (or didn't read it), McShay had the San Francisco 49ers selecting defensive end Nick Bosa of Ohio State in Round 1, safety Taylor Rapp of Washington in Round 2, and wide receiver Terry McLaurin of Ohio State in Round 3.

Below is how Kiper had the 49ers attacking the start of the draft.

Round 1 (2): Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State
Round 2 (36): JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford
Round 3 (67): Trayvon Mullen, CB, Clemson

"Bosa is my top-ranked prospect, and he's almost certainly going to go in the top two picks," writes Kiper.


Kiper has the Arizona Cardinals selecting quarterback Kyler Murray of Oklahoma with the No. 1 overall pick. After that, San Francisco adds to its ability to attack quarterbacks. Kiper feels that the No. 2 overall pick is too high to select a defensive back or wide receiver in this year's draft class.

"San Francisco can fill its need at receiver at the top of Round 2 -- and grab a Bay-area star -- as Arcega-Whiteside is a touchdown machine," Kiper continues. "He's moving up my board. Mullen has first-round talent, but he had an underwhelming 2018 for the national champs. If he can be more consistent, he can be an NFL starter."
