Just minutes before Graziano reported the news, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Buccaneers released their punter, Bryan Anger. The move made room for Pinion to join Tampa Bay.
The 49ers made Pinion a fifth-round draft pick out of Clemson in 2015. He averaged 43.7 yards and 39.1 net yards on 68 punts in 2018. 22 of Pinions punts landed inside the 20-yard line.
Pinion was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week this past season after a three-punt, 164-net-yards performance during Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders. The game included his season-long 64-yard punt.
