Curiously, news of the signing came less than 10 minutes into the start of the window where NFL teams can begin negotiating with player agents.
Brown, 25, has 47 game appearances and 44 starts through his four NFL seasons. The 49ers made Brown a seventh-round draft pick out of Florida in 2015 and traded him to the Patriots on April 27, 2018, in exchange for moving up in the draft from the No. 143 overall pick to No. 95. San Francisco used that pick to select defensive back Tarvarius Moore out of Southern Miss.
Brown played in 31 games with the 49ers and started all but three of those appearances but was replaced when the team drafted Mike McGlinchey with the No. 9 overall pick.
Brown played right tackle in San Francisco and was used at left tackle in New England, starting all 16 games in 2018. The Patriots went on to win Super Bowl 53.
