"Make sure you're on time, whether it's weigh-ins, whether it's meeting with us, whether it's an appointment you have with anyone here because those are the questions everyone wants to ask of you," Shanahan told the players on the South squad at the conclusion of Tuesday's practice. "You'll f--king do everything perfect here and then one f--king..."
That was when NFL Network quickly cut away.
Shanahan felt he needed to speak to the players because a couple of them were late to meetings earlier this week. He was asked on Thursday about that speech and if it resonated with the draft prospects.
"It did because it was neat that I haven't had to say anything again," Shanahan told reporters on Thursday after the final Senior Bowl practice of the week. "It's good that guys can figure that out because if guys were late this week and stuff, it's not like we can fine them. It's not like we're going to cut them. We're coaching an all-star game.
"So we're just trying to help them out and stuff. But to tell guys people are watching and you don't want to show that you're that type of person, and no one has done it since, (it shows) we've had a good group of guys."
Shanahan was asked if his wife was watching on television as he delivered the speech.
"No, she wasn't," Shanahan responded. "Thank goodness. It did get back to her."
What did she think of his language?
"She actually -- she likes that," Shanahan said while laughing. "She's got a bad mouth also."
Honesty like that has made the 49ers head coach very endearing to fans.
