Walker was slated to be part of the South squad, which is being coached by Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers staff.
As Walker, who is currently projected as a Day 2 pick, pointed out, the Senior Bowl would have been an opportunity to increase his draft stock ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine. He was injured late during the SEC Championship Game against Alabama — a game the Bulldogs lost 35-28.
Walker did not play in the Sugar Bowl against Texas. He finished this past season as Georgia's sack leader.
Walker registered 45 combined tackles, 11 for a loss, 7.5 sacks, three passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery during his senior year. He finished his collegiate career with 112 combined tackles, 27.5 for a loss, 13.5 sacks, four passes defensed, and five forced fumbles.
Outside of Fred Warner, who heads into his second NFL season, there is a lot of uncertainty at linebacker for the 49ers. The team waived second-year linebacker Reuben Foster after a series of off-the-field troubles, and veteran Malcolm Smith was never able to consistently stay healthy.
