The 49ers don't have any tight ends scheduled to become free agents until 2020, and they have a great one in George Kittle, who is preparing to enter his third NFL season. He recorded 88 receptions for 1,377 yards with five touchdowns in 2018, setting a new NFL single-season record for reception yards by a tight end. And Kittle did that while dealing with a cracked rib for much of the season.
Behind Kittle, San Francisco has veteran Garrett Celek, who is the second longest tenured 49ers player behind tackle Joe Staley. Celek was slowed by a broken thumb in his right hand — an injury which occurred during a Week 3 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. He registered five receptions for 90 yards with two touchdowns through 15 games and one start in 2018, all of which were his lowest totals since 2014.
Also on the roster are tight ends Marcus Lucas and Ross Dwelley.
