Goodwin has been dealing with calf and shoulder issues, while Celek suffered a concussion during the Niners' Week 16 loss to the Chicago Bears a week ago. Both players were ruled out for Sunday's contest in L.A.
Here's the full list of San Francisco inactives for the game:
- WR Marquise Goodwin
- S Tyree Robinson
- OL Erik Magnuson
- OL Shon Coleman
- TE Garrett Celek
- NT Earl Mitchell
- DL Sheldon Day
The 49ers also placed running back Matt Breida (ankle) and wide receiver Dante Pettis (knee) on injured reserve this week, then called up wide receivers Max McCaffrey and Steven Dunbar Jr. from the practice squad to fill the voids. No. 2 running back Jeff Wilson figures to get a bulk of carries against a Rams defense allowing an average of 5.0 yards per carry this season -- second worst in the NFL.
San Francisco is also going with a youth movement up front, continuing to keep defensive tackles Earl Mitchell and Sheldon Day on the inactive list. This indicates that second-year nose tackle D.J. Jones will get the start after impressing down the stretch this season.
The 49ers and Rams kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
