Fullback Kyle Juszczyk and tight end George Kittle will make the trip to the Pro Bowl, which is Juszczyk's third-straight and Kittle's first. Buckner, along with kicker Robbie Gould and linebacker Mark Nzeocha, were named as alternates.
Juszczyk was among those shocked when he noticed Buckner's name was absent from the NFC roster. He also felt teammates like cornerback Richard Sherman and tackle Joe Staley should have at least been named alternates.
Juszczyk joined 95.7 The Game (very early) on Wednesday morning and discussed the snubs and the likely reason for them.
"It's a really big surprise," Juszczyk said on the "Joe, Lo, and Dibs" show. "DeFo especially, I thought he was a shoo-in. I thought there's no chance he didn't make it because I think he's extremely deserving. I mean, his numbers absolutely say it but you just watch any Niners game, you just see how he can take over on the defensive line.
"Guys like Staley and Sherman, I think those guys definitely deserve the nod as well. They both have been having phenomenal years.
"There's a lot of guys out there that I think deserve it, but it's tough when you're 4-10. You don't always get the most exposure. It's kind of hard to validate tons of Pro Bowl picks when you have that record."
