Breida did not play during Sunday's 20-14 win over the Denver Broncos. Shanahan, who joined KNBR on Friday, was asked if he expects to have the running back available for Sunday's rematch against the Seahawks.
"I hope so," Shanahan answered on the "Murph & Mac" show. "He's looked good this week in practice. So, I expect to have him out there unless we have a setback. He's been battling through this all year. It got worse the first Seattle game. We had to take him out last week. Hopefully, this week off has helped him and will help him, hopefully, get through this game better than he has."
Breida's injury has created an opportunity for undrafted rookie running back Jeff Wilson, who played a combined 122 snaps over the past two weeks. He has rushed the football 184 yards on 45 carries (4.1-yards-per-carry average) while adding 10 receptions for 87 yards in three game appearances and one start.
Breida has registered 744 yards on 132 carries with three rushing touchdowns this season while adding 21 receptions for 209 yards with two touchdown receptions.
On Friday afternoon, the 49ers will release their official injury report with player statuses for this weekend's game.
