Last Thursday night was the meeting of two talent-depleted teams when the Oakland Raiders visited Levi's Stadium to play the 49ers. While the Raiders' misfortunes have been self-inflicted, the 49ers' have been mostly due to injuries at key positions. The team lost its featured running back before the start of the season and its franchise quarterback three weeks in — two losses that were difficult for head coach Kyle Shanahan and company to overcome.
As of Sunday morning, no team has more money invested in injured players (injured reserve, physically unable to perform, non-football injury) than the 49ers' $40.4 million, according to Over the Cap. The next closest team is the Philadelphia Eagles at a figure of $29.8 million.
Most of that money is invested in quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who signed a five-year mega-deal with the 49ers in February.
Below is a list of the 49ers players who are on injured reserve.
- FS Adrian Colbert (high-ankle sprain), placed on IR on October 22
- LB Brock Coyle (concussion), September 12
- G JP Flynn (knee), September 2
- QB Jimmy Garoppolo (ACL), September 26
- RB Jerick McKinnon (ACL), September 3
- CB Emmanuel Moseley (shoulder), November 2
- RB Raheem Mostert (forearm), November 2
The 49ers also have rookie defensive lineman Kentavius Street on the reserve/non-football injury list.
