Burbridge was released off the team's injured reserve list on September 12 after an injury settlement was reached. The 49ers had placed him on injured reserve 10 days earlier due to a knee injury.
San Francisco made Burbridge a sixth-round draft pick out of Michigan State in 2016. He appeared in 16 games with three starts during his rookie campaign and caught seven passes for 88 yards with 15 tackles on special teams. Burbridge spent the 2017 season on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following additional information about Burbridge:
A 24-year-old native of Farmington Hills, MI, Burbridge attended Michigan State University. In four years with the Spartans (2012-15), he played in 51 games (23 starts) and tallied 165 receptions for 2,174 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 165 career receptions ranked 2nd in school history, behind only WR B.J. Cunningham (218). In 2015, Burbridge was named the Richter-Howard Big Ten Receiver of the Year in addition to earning First-Team All-Big Ten, and Honorable Mention All-America honors as he played in 14 games (13 starts) and led the Big Ten in receptions (85) and receiving yards (1,258) while adding seven touchdowns.
