The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Delaire as an undrafted free agent out of Towson in 2015. He bounced to the Washington Redskins before landing with the Carolina Panthers during his rookie season.
Delaire registered 14 combined tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a pass defensed in two seasons and 15 game appearances with Carolina. While Delaire did not play in 2017, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts on August 11 but was waived on September 2.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers got a good look at Delaire when the team played a preseason game against the Colts on August 25. The defensive end had two sacks and a forced fumble in that game.
The 49ers have a vacancy on the practice squad after the Houston Texans signed defensive end Daeshon Hall to their active roster. The team is also expected to promote quarterback Nick Mullens from the practice squad to the active roster.
Delaire worked out for the New England Patriots on Tuesday.
