ALS claimed Clark's life. While the devastating disease remains incurable, efforts are being made to raise money to fund research in hopes of one day better combating and eliminating it.
Our friends over at Niner Noise recently featured a Q&A with former Bay Area News Group columnist Mark Purdy to discuss "San Francisco Legends Take On ALS," which is a new 49ers documentary with never-before-seen interviews of past team greats like Y.A. Tittle, R.C. "Alley-Oop" Owens, Abe Woodson, Bob St. Clair, Leo Nomillini, Joe Perry, Eric Wright, Randy Cross, and George Seifert.
Purdy produced the nearly hour-long documentary with Julia Hutton, and it is a must-watch for any Niner fan.
"The idea of the project stemmed from a time when the NFL wasn't open to admitting there was a correlation between football and ALS," Purdy told Peter Panacy. "As a result, many of these interviews were shelved until recently."
For a couple of examples of some of the stories you will find in the documentary, we encourage you to read Panacy's breakdown over at Niner Noise.
If you are interested in purchasing the video for $20 plus $5 for shipping and handling, you can do so from 1000Plus Video Productions. 100 percent of the proceeds go to benefit ALS research via the ALS Golden West chapter.
