Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (quadricep), linebacker Malcolm Smith (hamstring), and guards Mike Person (foot) and Joshua Garnett (toe) were all questionable for Sunday. None of those players practiced on Wednesday, and that was once again the case on Thursday.
Rookie Dante Pettis replaced Goodwin on Sunday following his injury. Pettis finished the game with two receptions for 61 yards and the 49ers' lone touchdown.
Linebackers Fred Warner and Brock Coyle started against the Vikings. However, Coyle broke a bone in his back during the game and was replaced by Elijah Lee. On Wednesday, the 49ers placed Coyle on injured reserve.
Offensive lineman Najee Toran was promoted from the practice squad on Wednesday. The 49ers would probably like to avoid a situation where they have to move rookie Mike McGlinchey from right tackle to right guard, as they were forced to do against the Vikings. Erik Magnuson also remains an outside possibility should both Person and Garnett continue to miss time.
Safety Adrian Colbert missed Wednesday's practice with what was reported as a tight hamstring. He did not practice on Thursday.
Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Lions, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
