The 49ers announced on Saturday that Watson is headed to injured reserve.
The 49ers signed Watson to a three-year deal on March 17, 2017. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made him a seventh-round draft pick in 2010. Watson spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and Denver Broncos before joining San Francisco.
Watson appeared in 14 games for the 49ers last season and registered eight combined tackles. He was a key contributor on special teams where he had six tackles in 2017.
As of this post, the 49ers have not yet announced a corresponding roster move.
