Below are some notes from Wednesday's outing, which was reportedly the team's most physical practice of training camp.
Quarterbacks
Jimmy Garoppolo tossed touchdown passes to wide receivers Aaron Burbridge, Dante Pettis, Kendrick Bourne, and Aldrick Robinson during red-zone one-on-one drills.
Garoppolo was (unofficially) 17-of-24 during team drills, according to the tally from Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group.
Wide Receivers
Team drills (and practice) ended with a nice deep touchdown from Garoppolo to rookie Dante Pettis, who had an impressive practice.
"Jimmy Garoppolo threw a perfect deep ball down the left sideline to Dante Pettis for a 40-yard touchdown," Joe Fann of 49ers.com described. "Was a full-team, move the ball period. Pettis beat Witherspoon. Big exclamation point to end the day."
Garoppolo's last three passes of the day went to Pettis, who caught two. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon had a pass breakup on the other. Pettis also had a touchdown reception from quarterback C.J. Beathard, per Chris Biderman of Niners Wire.
Running Backs
While Jerick McKinnon continues to look like the dynamic running back everyone expected him to be, Matt Breida was impressive as well. He had a solid practice and had a couple of big runs during team drills.
Tight Ends
George Kittle hauled in a nice one-handed catch along the right sideline. He had a good practice with Garoppolo finding him for three long completions.
Defensive Line
Seventh-round draft pick Jullian Taylor has been having an impressive last couple of practices. That continued on Wednesday.
Defensive Backs
While Garoppolo tossed touchdowns against other defensive backs, Richard Sherman was impressive during red-zone one-on-one drills. He didn't allow a catch and had a nice pass breakup on an attempted Garoppolo-to-Garçon throw.
Nickel corner K'Waun Williams also had a pass breakup against Garçon.
Other than the touchdown given up to Pettis, Witherspoon looked impressive during team red-zone drills. He had two pass breakups.
The 49ers' next practice is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m.
