"I think the fact that we even talk about expectation is a nice thing because it's been a few years," Robinson told Al Sacco. "I feel it. I feel it from the fans, and I feel it from The Faithful. I think the team feels it inside and with that comes the knowledge that they're going to have a little bit of a target on their back. People will pay attention this year. They will prepare (for the 49ers), perhaps, a little more vigorously.
"Although, we all remember this (team) was 6-10 last year. The ending was great, but that was the overall record. My expectation, Al, specifically in one sentence, is that every time the 49ers take the field this year, they will believe they can win the game. And that hasn't happened in the last few years, especially in road games. Playing Seattle, that hasn't happened in quite a while. I think that will be the case this year."
Last season saw a shift in power within the NFC West. The Los Angeles Rams won the division for the first time since 2003. Their main competition this year is predicted to be San Francisco. It's a renewed rivalry which has been dormant for years.
"For the first time in this decade, it's not the 49ers or the Seahawks that are the team to beat," Robinson continued. "This entire decade, it's been one of those two in this division. And now it's the Rams. So that puts a different spin on everything."
Robinson goes on to discuss quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, roster battles, and which players he is most looking forward to watching during the preseason.
