The NFL recently announced the following five eligible players to all 32 teams. They are as follows:
- Adonis Alexander, DB, Virginia Tech
- Sam Beal, DB, Western Michigan
- Brandon Bryant, DB, Mississippi State
- Martayveus Carter, RB, Grand Valley State
- Bright Ugwoegbu, LB, Oregon State
All 32 NFL teams sent representatives to Beal's workout on June 28. The 49ers were one of 26 teams on hand to watch Alexander's workout. They were one of 14 teams watching Bryant's workout. San Francisco was also one of six teams on hand to watch Ugwoegbu's workout.
The Supplemental Draft will take place on July 11. NFL teams can bid on the available players using 2019 draft picks. The club with the winning bid receives the rights to the player but loses the corresponding selection next year.
Any player who is not selected in the Supplemental Draft will become a free agent.
Draft order in the Supplemental Draft is different from that of the annual event held in the spring. NFL teams are separated into three groups. The first contains clubs which had six or fewer wins the previous season. The second includes teams which had seven-or-more wins but failed to make the postseason. The final group contains the playoff teams from the previous season. The order within each group is determined by a weighted lottery based on records of the prior season. Each interested team blindly bids on players without knowing what other clubs are offering.
