"The procedure was described as a minor cleanup and he should be fine for most, if not all, of the spring drills," wrote Rapoport via Twitter.
The 49ers recently picked up Armstead's fifth-year option, placing him under contract through the 2019 season. San Francisco made Armstead, who played college football for Oregon, the No. 17 overall draft pick in 2015.
"I'm good," Armstead said Friday morning on KHTK Sports 1140. "I had surgery, a minor cleanup on my foot a couple of months ago, but I'm feeling better now. We start OTAs and practice on Monday, so I'm feeling good."
Armstead is coming off a shortened 2017 season after sustaining a broken hand during a Week 6 matchup against the Washington Redskins. He was placed on injured reserve on October 17, 2017. It was the second-straight year Armstead's season ended on injured reserve. In 2016, he played in just eight games with four starts before a nagging shoulder injury and surgery finished his season.
Armstead started six games last season while registering 16 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a pass defensed. Over his three seasons with the 49ers, he has recorded 50 total tackles, six sacks, and a pass defensed.
