The NFL Top 100 Players list is voted on by players and is based on performance during the previous year and predicted performance during the upcoming season. The list is in its eighth season on NFL Network.
The 49ers signed Sherman on March 10 after the Seattle Seahawks released him a day earlier. He is attempting to return from a ruptured Achilles' tendon sustained in November. The 49ers hope to have Sherman on the practice field for training camp in late-July while the veteran cornerback's timeline is more aggressive. He hopes to be ready to practice with his teammates in June.
Sherman, a seven-year veteran, has registered 367 combined tackles, 32 interceptions, 99 passes defensed, a sack, and five forced fumbles over his career. He has been selected to four Pro Bowls, is a three-time first-team All-Pro, and during seven seasons with Seattle, the Seahawks made the playoffs five times, appeared in two Super Bowls, and won Super Bowl XLVIII.
So far, NFL Network has only revealed the players ranked No. 60 through No. 100. No 49ers players appeared on the list last year.
