Rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis told reporters he will be able to participate in OTAs even though the University of Washington is on the "quarter system." 49ers Vice President of Communications Bob Lange confirmed that all rookies will be permitted to participate, noting that each rookie "must be given adequate time to complete his coursework while with the team. The team must also cover travel to and from any finals that must be taken."
Pettis also told reporters that he views himself "as a receiver and not really a punt returner," even though the rookie holds the NCAA record with nine punt-return touchdowns.
In addition to the drafted rookies on hand, a number of undrafted rookies have tryouts with the 49ers, including defensive lineman Patrick Choudja, running back Ja'Quan Gardner, and Carson Wentz's cousin Connor, who played tight end and fullback for North Dakota State.
