With the 28th pick (No. 128 overall) in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected N.C. State defensive end Kentavius Street. The 49ers will have to wait to see Street in action. He tore his ACL in March during a private workout with the New York Giants. The injury typically takes about nine months to fully recover.

"The 49ers clearly believe in Kentavius Street's potential down the road," wrote Joe Fann of 49ers.com via Twitter. "It's also another indicator that they have bought in on Cassius Marsh, Jeremiah Attaochu and Eli Harold off the edge in 2018."


Street was overshadowed by Bradley Chubb during his time with the Wolfpack. He is strong in run support and has shown some ability to contribute against the pass. In four seasons at N.C. State, Street registered 121 combined tackles, 19.5 for a loss, and 9.5 sacks. 5.5 of that sack total came in 2016 alone with 3.5 coming in 2017. He was a three-year starter for the Wolfpack.

"Street grades out as a reserve NFL edge defender who lacks a true fit on defense and will need to contribute on special teams to stick," wrote ESPN in their pre-draft analysis.


At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-2 and 280-pound Street had a 40-time of 4.87 seconds and had 28 reps in the bench press. Other measurables for Street include an arm length of 32 7/8 inches and hands that measure 10 1/4 inches.

NFL.com projected Street to be a fourth- or fifth-round draft pick.




Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who compares Street to Ronald Blair, wrote the following about Street within his scouting report:

"Street has the level of strength and toughness that defenses are looking for on the edge, but his lack of reactive quickness and lack of desired length is a concern against NFL tackles. Street doesn't appear to be a plus NFL pass rusher but his power is intriguing. A team might be interested in asking him to add more weight in an attempt to bump him inside. After tearing his ACL at his pro day, Street will likely see a drop in his draft positioning."

Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst wrote the following the following about Street within his scouting report:

"Street caused a lot of mayhem from his defensive end position and was a terrific college player. He offers possibilities as a two-gap end and may even be pushed inside and used as a three-technique tackle, but he will continue to rely on first-step quickness to get the job done."
