Jackson, a three-sport athlete, saw limited playing time during his first two seasons at Iowa after redshirting in 2014. In three seasons with the Hawkeyes, he registered 66 combined tackles, 1.5 for a loss, eight interceptions, two touchdowns, and 24 passes defensed, per Sports Reference. All eight of Jackson's interceptions came in 2017 when he recorded career-highs of 48 combined tackles, two touchdowns, and 18 passes defensed through 13 games. Both of his scores came in a game against Wisconsin on November 11, 2017.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-1 and 192-pound Jackson had a 40-time of 4.56 seconds, a vertical jump of 38 inches, a broad jump of 123 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 6.86 seconds, had 18 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 43 seconds.
NFL.com projects Jackson to be a first- or second-round draft pick.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who compares Jackson to Josh Norman, wrote the following within his scouting report:
"Long-armed ball-hawk who understands how to maximize his length to disrupt the catch and take it away. Jackson could be labeled a "one-year wonder", but 27 passes defensed in a single season isn't random. He's talented but inexperienced and he has coverage holes that could be exploited early in his career. Jackson's draft stock likely took a hit with his average forty time and unimpressive work in position drills. However, he is armed with route anticipation, ball skills, and NFL length that teams covet in a press-man corner. It may take time, but the tools are there to be an early starter."
Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst wrote the following within his scouting report:
"Jackson comes off a tremendous junior campaign and moves towards the draft as one of the higher-rated cornerbacks. He possesses the size and upside to develop into a starter at the next level but presently is most effective facing the action and must improve making plays with his back to the ball."
