"People like Schultz, as they feel he'll be able to immediately step in and help a team on all three downs," writes Pauline. "He's not spectacular and doesn't have the upside some of the other tight ends possess, but he could be a solid starter for years to come. Schultz has had workouts with the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings and is also getting a lot of interest from the San Francisco 49ers."
This is the first time Schultz's name has been linked to the 49ers. Representatives from the team, including general manager John Lynch, were in attendance during Stanford's pro day on March 22.
In three seasons with the Cardinal, Schultz caught 55 passes for 555 yards with five touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. In 2017, he caught 22 passes for 212 yards with three touchdowns and was an All-Pac-12 first-team selection.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-6 and 242-pound Schultz had a 40-time of 4.75 seconds, a vertical jump of 32 inches, a broad jump of 120 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 7 seconds, had 15 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.4 seconds.
NFL.com projects Schultz to be a third-round draft pick.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who compares Schultz to Dwayne Allen, wrote the following within his scouting report:
"Schultz is a Y-tight end with the ability as a run blocker to help bolster a team's rushing attack very quickly. While his frame could still use more mass, he plays with good technique and play strength at the point of attack and shows an ability to impose his will upon edge defenders if they half-step into the rep. Schultz is a capable and reliable target underneath, but his living will depend on how he impacts the running game. Schultz's limited catch production could drop him a round, but he should be a solid, early starter."
