Etta is the third known player that will be in attendance at the 49ers' local pro day on April 18. The other two are cornerback Yusef Sterling-Lowe of Texas A&M Commerce and quarterback Malik Watson of Dixie State.
Etta began his collegiate football career at Laney Junior College in 2015 where he played in eight games and recorded 24 tackles with five for a loss. He transferred to Wayne State and registered 39 tackles with two for a loss during eight games and three starts in 2016. In 2017, he tallied 37 tackles, 1.5 for a loss, and half a sack.
"I feel as though my style of play is very unique," Etta told Draft Diamonds in February when asked who he compares his play to. "I can't really compare it to anyone in the league, but it's similar to T.J. Ward; small but very aggressive."
The 49ers hosted 43 players at their local pro day in 2017. NFL teams are allowed to host an unlimited number of local prospects, who do not count against the 30-player pre-draft limit. Attendees will have an opportunity to work out for the 49ers coaching staff, front office, and scouts. Draft prospects from the Bay Area, like Etta, who played for college teams elsewhere are also eligible to take part.
