Had he been invited, Smith's recorded 40-time would have been the seventh-fastest of the NFL Scouting Combine this year.
"[The NFL teams] all liked my numbers," Smith said following South Carolina's pro day via The State. "I had to have my numbers match what my film showed. Playing at a lower level, they wanted to make sure everything looks how it looks on film. I think I did that very well. I am hearing (I will join a team) somewhere on the third day, whether I get drafted or picked up right after the draft, but definitely getting a chance."
Smith, who measured in at 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, has worked out for the Dallas Cowboys, plans to work out for the Atlanta Falcons, has met with the Minnesota Vikings, and has a visit lined up with the New York Jets.
In four seasons with Limestone College, Smith registered 153 receptions for 2,371 yards with 11 touchdowns, according to Hero Sports. His best season came in 2017 when he caught 49 passes for 849 yards with three touchdowns.
