At one point, the San Francisco 49ers were reported to be among the teams showing interest in former Washington Redskins wide receiver Terrelle Pryor. On March 14, Mike Silver of NFL Network named the 49ers, along with the Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns, as the interested parties in the free-agent receiver.

Nothing developed since then and Pryor agreed to terms on a deal with the New York Jets on Thursday, according to multiple reports.


The 49ers tried to sign Pryor a year ago, but the receiver opted to join Washington on a one-year deal worth $8 million. He caught 20 passes for 240 yards with a touchdown last year before landing on injured reserve on November 21, 2017, due to an ankle injury he had been dealing with since a Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Oakland Raiders made Pryor a third-round draft pick out of Ohio State in 2011. Following three seasons in Oakland, the then-quarterback bounced around from team-to-team before finally being claimed off waivers by the Browns on June 22, 2015.

Pryor, who was waived by Cleveland on September 10, 2015, had a workout with the 49ers a month later. San Francisco opted not to sign him, and Pryor re-signed with the Browns two months later. The quarterback turned wide receiver had a breakout year with Cleveland in 2016 when he registered 77 receptions for 1,007 yards, four touchdowns, and just four drops in 16 games with 15 starts.

On Wednesday, 49ers general manager John Lynch stated the team had already shifted focus from free agency to next month's draft, making any further big-name signings unlikely.
